Awww, pigs are awesome! you are brave to give them "real" names, I could only call mine "bacon" "ham" and "pork chop" So much better than commercially grown pork. Wish I still had some land to keep them on. I live in "town" now, so can't have any livestock other than chickens, but boy do I take advantage!

Well, these were supposed to be show pigs for 4H and FFA, but they have crooked noses. We had planned on breeding Lagniappe , and she's in heat now! But, not with those noses. We had Pig and Mr. Pig before. I am thinking, we name our broilers, and they are pets until it's "time", and they're smart enough to know their individual names, so it's more of a respect thing, I guess? The kids like naming them and use unusual ones. SpiderPig enjoys the SpiderPig song from the Simpsons. Lol!

Those pigs are adorable. I love piggies. We used to raise our own for meat. Havent had any in a year or two though.

lmao, I my daughter used to sing that when she was little lol, I mean littler haha. I have named them, but it will definately be hard not to get attached. They are girls so I couldnt bring myself to give them "boy" names lol, I had a pot belly piglet when I was young and named him bacon, lol.

I just took some pictures our English blood B/B/S Orpingtons. I thought I would post a couple of pictures and I hope they show how big these English Orp birds are. My American blood Orpington are hugh but they look tiny next to these birds.

These are two different roosters. The first one is in with the Blue and Black Orp hens. Two of the Black hens have English blood and the others are American blood. I still have a seperate pen with just American Orpingtons. The second rooster is in the special project pen. Those hens with him are full size standard breed chickens and notice the turkey in the background. These roosters are 10 months old.

Yup, a lot of the American "breeders" do a real poor job of it. A lot of the American orpingtons have been bred with other breeds to produce certain colors but then never have been bred back to look nearly like the English orpingtons as they should have been. Your English birds are really nice and look like an orpington should. Lovely. Glad you posted this.

I have incubator envy!! Years ago I had one and hatched out geese. It eventually was yard saled. Now look at all the awesome birds I'm missing out on!
