Hope the rest of the week goes smoothly for you and the b-day party is a hit (I'm sure it will be). I understand about the eggs to hens ratio. I'm getting next to nothing too, except Silkie eggs - really? Silkies are laying when no one else is (strange chicken world)

Who would guess your Silkies would be your layers. I guess they realized they weren't going to be able to set on any unless they laid their own when they saw the others avoiding the nest boxes.

We have a gorgeous Fall day here today and I'm loving it. The chickens are loving it too! To some 46 and sunny is not gorgeous, but it is here at this time of the year. I've spent most of morning outside working and will probably spend most of my afternoon out there too. Perfect day to clean a few pens! Maybe I'll put some Christmas lights up now, so I don't have to do it with gloves on.

Now if I could only convince the hens that its a perfect day to start laying again!

Isn't it sad, but as soon as the Christmas stuff was out at the stores I went out a bought a bunch of strings of white Christmas Lights just to "decorate" the coops and encourage a little more egg laying. I have not put them up yet because I have so many trying to finish up their molt.
I didn't get to the Christmas lights for the house today, because I was finishing up some leaves, but hopefully I'll get a some of this weather tomorrow too!

Ugh another rough day today. After running around trying to get the rest of the stuff for the party and cleaning the house and making soap for orders I have to get out. I spent 2 hours wrestiling the goats to there backs and sitting on each one of them to trim there hoofs. Who knew it would be such a chore to try and trim goat hoofs by yourself.

Oh....... what a picture it must have been to see me struggling to trim them hoofs. Lol....... Now it is time to finish dinner then bake some muffins and a cake.

Oh and I forgot to add the Boiling down of 2 Pie Pumpkins to make some homemade Pumpkin pies. I'm ready for a nap now.
