Oh no!!We buried poor Sisu this afternoon... RIP sweet girl...
Kind of a funny little story, though. I got home from a crazy day at work and checked Sisu over. My DD had brought her into the house and had her on a towel on the bathroom floor. I was really tired and hungry, so I grabbed a snack and went to sit down for a minute before taking care of burying her. My niece and her husband showed up to get some dirt or their garden. I went downstairs to get my boots and went outside. My niece told me her husband had went in to use the bathroom... Then it hit me.... Ummmmmmm...... There is a dead chicken on the floor in my bathroom.....

We had a chicken tragedy this morning... My dogs have been really good with the chickens lately. I have been going out to do chores in the morning and letting the whole pack into the barn where my young Spitzhauben crosses and my 3 young EE's hang out. They have been interested, but call off of them really easily. Once or twice, when a chicken really runs from them or makes a fuss, they will chase it a bit, but still come right back to me as soon as I call them.
This morning, I left the barn chores for the kids because I had to get to work. 3 of the dogs ganged up on one of my original black Australorps and did too much damage before the kids could stop them. She died in my daughter's arms. She is devastated... I'm probably going to have to have a chicken funeral when I get home. I don't think there is any way I could convince my kids to let me cook this bird. Not sure I would want to either. Her name was Sisu... She was a good girl...![]()
