Not a silly question at all. When someone is working on a project bird or color they have to start somewhere with two birds, that crosses offspring are considered F1's in the project then the next cross and set of offspring from the F1's would be considered F2's and so on and so on.

I have been working on the American choc bantam orps for almost 2 years now being selective in my crosses and waiting for particular birds to be of breeding age. From my original cross I am now into my third generation of crossing to move forward with toward my ultimate goal.

yah..But remember..they are not PURE BCM's they are pure silver laced brahma dad over pure blue or black BCM hens:) BIG BIRDS!!!

Will be interesting to see how they feather in, do you have any yourself growing out??

Nope you were my tester...I wanted to cross these two breeds only for the sheer pleasure of size..The roosters should be huge and great eating as meat birds. They do take a while to feather in and grow as pure brahmas..But with with the mixture Im hoping the growth time will be cut by about 1/3 to full size. Since the brahmas have a full wide breast..These would be the ones I would keep for my freezer..My brahmas are between 10-12 lbs by 7-8 months. I want to hatch a whole load of these in Spring and put them in a grow out pen...butcher ALL roos ( maybe keeping 1-2 behind depending on their size) and use all pullets for egg eating layers.

Yes for sure! Also It will be nice to see your photos of them as I have a blue and a black BCM..want to see how they feather out differently...Maybe even sexable by color traits early on woul dbe great..Keep an eye on any specific feather colorations and how they change as they grow! OOh I knew this would be a fun project to play with!...

Along those line ladies, would it be just plain wrong of me to mix MF D'Uccle and MF OEGB together? They are in the same pen together, so I have been getting eggs and hatched one. Looks adorable. Came out smaller than a baby sarama, but very healthy and strong. Has feathers on it's legs that may be hocks later, I guess from the D'Uccle side. Anyway I will seperate them once I get MF D'Uccle hens.
Here's the pics. This is the mixed baby
