we dont know about the sex yet. she is 13 wks pregnant. and due end of sept. we should know the sex in about 5 more weeks.

i set up a gift registry at kmart but of course havent told a whole mess of people. she doesn't want it to public and i dont blame her.

@Meepitqueenie, I wish I knew the right words to say. I know you must be in shock but sounds like you are handling it well. I know you were hoping to wait a little while but being a Grandma has been one of the bigger joys in my life. I pray this for your too. You never know what life will us from day to day it seems. I pray for you both a happy, healthy grandchild. I do have baby items. Please let me know when you have and idea if she is having a girl or boy. Were there for you sis! Big hugs,

Grats on the Grandbaby! Sometimes life is full of surprises, some sad, some good, and some you are just not sure how to take.
My oldest is turning 17 on April the 10th. Hubbie says all the time that if she were to give us a grandbaby before the age of 40 he will just disown her. I tell him, life is not that simple. Love is not that simple. Support is not that simple. Not to get all Bible thumpin on ya, but I tell him God never gives us more then we can handle.
A mothers job is to love fairly and truly. You, my friend, show us just how that is supposed to work.

Oh I have gotten so many things in the mail lately and I am sorry for not posting it sooner. With 80+ chicks I am not in charge anymore, they are. LOL But I love everything and the extras are so sweet. My granddaughter thinks it's her birthday everyday. "What did you get in the m ail today Grandma?" She a nosey rosey. She loves the dresses! And of course there is a picture of her mom in the green frame already. SONEW I got the Lenox items in the mail today and they are LOVELY. Thank you, you should check your PAYPAL in 10 minutes. There is no way I can remember all that I have received but even better I am grateful for friends like you and they fun and fellowship we have on this site. I did get a bunch of stuff out in the PO the other day but of course forgot to sit down and tell you the DC#s. You will probably have it in todays mail anyway. Promise to do better tomorrow. I have so many chicks now I don't know if I can could do them justice with photos. But I adore the photos you all have posted ! Just amazing cuties

I know this does not belong here but I need a short rant.


I take shipping boxes out to the front porch this morning to await the mail lady. When I set down the last one I noticed a note taped to my door.
"Angel, found your dog chasing my goats. Returned him to you. Will be by tomorrow for egg order. Lynn"

I think, well that is odd.... Holley and Buck are inside.
I go back inside. Trying to figure out what the heck she is talking about, while typing on the forums...then it hits me.
I check all the smaller coops near the house then goto the cow barn, my Speckled sussex adults, my new BCM trio, and the new BLRW trio are dead or injured beyond saving. The dog is laying in the isle way wagging it's tail.
First of all, I am ******. He is not my dog! Secondly, should she not have taken the time to find out for sure before dropping him off?!? I am not the only person in the world who owns a GSD and mine is female and a black and tan. This male is a sable. I really just want to cry.
DH called her DH. He says they are just birds, and he is sure I'll hatch off more soon. Besides, she was doing me a favor.... ***?!? I cannot hatch off more soon unless I buy eggs to hatch them from, and I have alot of time and care into those that I had. I bought them as adults! 15 Chickens gone, b/c someone thought they were doing me a favor....
I want to call the police and make some kind of report, but not sure what I could actually do.

Am just really about ready to give up.... It seems like we get hit with something each year.

Oh I am soooo sorry this happend!

But I think you have every right to be P***ED!!

I don't care how friendly you and your neighbor are she had NO right to just assume it was your dog and bring it to your property, I believe that makes her liable. Only birds!!

I would have to knock the crap out of her husband, how about "only goats" when they get killed. Birds cost ALOT of $$ and yes they become part of the family. I think you should start with the police dept and animal control and see what they say. I would want some sort of restitution, I have lots of $$$ invested my my birds. Do you have a farm policy with your homeowners insurance, maybe there is something that will help recover some costs??

I'm so sorry. That's heartbreaking!

It sounds like she's a friend of yours and meant well. I'm sure she's ticked about the dog chasing her goats. The two of you could report the dog to animal control if you have one and see if they can find the owner so you can get your money back for damages. Even t hough the neighbor put it in your yard, your chickens would still be alive if that dog hadn't been at large.
