Did you get it from a breeder? Most states have a sick puppy laws, meaning they can be on the hook for vet bills because they lied about vaccinating. Can you tell I record the People's Court everyday?

Yes from a breeder. My last chi Kay-Dee passed away 4 months ago and I lost her 1/ 2 brother about 4 months before that. From old age. I was finally able to get a new little one to love but sadly I lost her tonight at 1:38.
My husband already called them, told them we will take them to court. The vet said she had it before I got her. And he told them I was reporting her to the AKC. BTW she has sold ALL the infected puppies.
I have spent in excess of $300.00 in vet bills alone this week, and then I have to pay tomorrow to have her cremated. Yes I am a little nuts.
I only had my furbaby 5 days, but we sure did love her.
Thank you all for your support. Yall are such a great group.

AWW MAMMAWOLF--Im so very very sorry!!!!
what a terrible thing to go through and your poor baby chi..
I can't believe a registered breeder would not do shots and do what's right? How awful!
It is possible the breeder gave shots, but the puppy was already exposed to the disease. There is a variable time frame when puppies become susceptible to diseases. This is why puppies receive 3 shots, because it is unknown exactly when they lose the inherited immunity from the mother. But this is also contingent upon the mother being vaccinated for the diseases..it's really complex. If your interested, here is a pretty good link to explain. Vaccination Recommendations for Puppies.
Without a doubt the breeder owes you the price of the dog + vet bills, but it would be a good idea to be completely informed before you pursue litigation.
So incredibly sorry. I too have lost a puppy to parvo a few days after adoption (it was free so nothing I could do) and it is heartbreaking.
