Quail are smaller than Bantam's and Silkies so why should they count?

Hoping for girls. The NN sadly decided to stay out in the rain when we had the 9+ inches and didn't make it. My DD was so sad about that one! She has other favorites, but really likes the NNs for some reason

. We were moving chickens around in various grow-out pens today, I saw alot of red combs and wattles. Roosterfest!

Does anyone have a webpage that will tell me all about NPIP testing and what it entails? I spoke with a woman today on the phone to get my birds tested and she went on to tell me a bunch of junk that makes no sense to me LOL. She said they will not test my birds unless I have a poultry dealers license, export or import permits. I really do not know any info on NPIP testing and the "USDA" web site stinks LMAO! So anyone with any links will be most appriciated. You can PM then to me or list them here for me.
Thanks,
Frank

After your break from hatching I'll need to send your daughter some eggs. My NN Wellie project should be penned up by then. I have 3 F1 NN Wellie pullets that are going in a pen with my spare Wellie roosterCashew has 1 that is laying and it lays a dark speckled egg. I hope to pen up the rest of my NN at some point soon.

So my husband is thinking of buying me a breeder pair of Sebastopol geese for my up coming bday. :D he is talking to someone who has a pair of 2 year olds from holdereads and pip and peeps lines. They want $250. Good deal or not?
I know they only lay 25-35 eggs a year and I want to sell their eggs. When does laying slow down?

I sometimes count the quail at first then there are usually some that die for some reason or another. They all go in a brooder for a couple of weeks then out to the grow pen. Unless I need to put morein the grow pen they stay there till they're almost ready to process. Then into a cage that easier for me to get one at a time out to process. I don't hatch many silkies any more. I have just about all I need right now. With corn not growing the feed will go up and I can't afford to feed .

DH is a farmer and it's looking pretty bad right now. I didn't even think about the feed going up  great

Frank I have never heard of that. I don't need anything special where I live. Maybe it is differant in the state that you live in, but I have never heard of it. It sounds ridiculous to me. Your not a hatchery and you are just wanting to get your birds tested for sickness's. My Npip office is call Ohio Poultry office. Maybe you might have one called Ct. Poultry office. They should only just show up at your place and test half of your birds and then you will get the test results in a couple of weeks along with your Npip #. Also whatever it cost in your area. I know some people get tested for free. I have to pay every year. But to me it is worth it to know that I have a healthy flock.

I wouldn't think you would need a Poultry Dealers license or a import/export permit. If anything I would call back and talk to some one else maybe that person didn't know what they were talking about.

My quail eat like horses. Even if I don't count them the feed bill does. Where I hardly notice if a broody has an extra dozen chicks out there.....

Marans however are true pigs. HOLY CRAP there whole body swings in the front with croup in the late afternoons. I have one ee hen that really liked to stuff herself when she was a bitty, she always looked like she was going to fall over. I can guess which chicks are hers now by the size of their croups...
