There is a nanny and a baby doe for $125 in Fort Wayne. Uh oh am I going to have to bring them to the swap?

Actually it doesn't matter on the goat breed. I was really just looking for some milking goats that was decently priced. But I am trading her for $150 worth of poultry and I was just thinking that was awful expensive for a male.

I did see an ad on craigslist for a male nubian for $40 and a female for $60.

Yep, I know. I would like to get one already milking. The breed don't matter. I want the milk to make some cheese and maybe even drink. Lol..... The grocery's have been getting too expensive here. Trying to help cut costs. I have a ton of pasture that my mini horse don't eat plus it would make a great pasture buddy. Then when it stops milking I can get a Buck for her. I am looking to trade someone though. I can't afford to buy one right now.

IMO... I would NOT trade $150 in poultry for a weathered male. You could trade that for a goat already in milk or bred.

Ok... time to do your home work..... Breed does matter... you want a milking breed or a combinaiton milk breed.. While you can milk a meat goat such a pygmy..you will need small hands to be able to grip her and they don't produce as much milk.. Nigerians are pretty good milkers but in my opinion not as good as say... an Alpine, Nubian... etc. Now with that being said.. It is NO fun living with a Billy ...... Honestly.... they stink.... pee on their faces.... then proceed to blow snot all over you when you have a doe in season... YUCK It is better for me... just to pay for a service rather than keep an intact Billy. Just thought I would share :)
