I would try hanging it inside so it's more noticeable. Could be they just aren't seeing it hidden between the boards. Maybe even try painting the end bright orange or red to attract attention.
Ha Ha Nan....... I don't need that many guineas running a muck.
So, My first silkie egg after the broody drought finally hatched! I was so excited to get a few more silkies, adn a cursory look in the brooder confirmed it wasn;t a showgirl.
...... Its a marans cross. Must have been from when I thought constance was a girl..... CURSES! I have about 15 eggs in the bator that could be these crazy chickens!
You basically have no choice.... those little buggers are stubborn !! I have 4 broody right now, each happily sitting on 1 egg each. ![]()
You might consider getting some red electrical tape to put around the end, without covering the ball of course. Paint could chip away.Yeah, painting it is a good idea!
I had it elsewhere in a place I thought was more visible, but they didn't get it. At least I know the older chicks drink from the nipples (when there isn't a bowl available!). I left the water bowl in the coop for the different group of chicks who tend to stay inside away from the Eng Orp Giants, so all can get some water. I'll paint this one and leave them to it and the nipples outside.
I just sold $100 worth of chicksMight actually manage to keep water & electric BOTH on![]()
