What you liked about raising your chicks, and what you don't like.

Quote:
I forgot those, they are all good ones. I rarely ever go away for long b/c of those exact reasons.

LOVE

soft feathers
curious nature
amount of bugs they can eat
fresh eggs
hugs from my BO

NO LOVE

My JG running her beak at 6am cuz she wants treats (and I have no one to blame but myself to this bad behavior)

I love to see their God given instincts kick in! For instance, when they start "scratching" the sawdust, dust bathing, roosting up (mine did that at 2 weeks of age on a small branch). I think it is incredible to watch, since they didn't learn it from their momma or other chickens, yet they just know. Amazing.

I can listen for hours to that sound chicks make when they're happy/having fun. That little cheep-cheep-cheep sounds. And when you hold them and stroke them and they lean back 'till they fall over/fall asleep. They are so trusting when they are very young.
The only thing I hate about chicks is that they die so easily:(

What I like:
The Fuzzy butts
Small and cute faces
Small chirps :D
Seeing them grow up to adulthood
First eggs, that's always amazing.
Sitting down with them, and petting their little heads until they fall asleep... adorable!

What I don't like:
Bedding in the water, you take it own then the kick it back in!
The poop everywhere, even on the feeder.. YUCK.
Them flying out, the worry about losing them when your not looking.
When they get pasty poop butts.
Having the responsibility to myself.
Having sisters give them stupid names like, "Ugly face"

I love coming home to see my little babies all sleeping in one big pile.
Hearing them play in the brooder
Taking them to places in my sweater
Snuggling and watching movies on the couch
I absolutely love that I hatched them myself
Its great to be able to raise birds for my friends

I dont really care for the shavings in the water
The loud chirps at 2 am

I say my birds are well worth the lack of sleep and constant water changes. I plan on raising chicks as long as Im still kicking.

What I liked:
- Seeing their instincts kick in; scratching, dustbathing, sparring, flying, ect.
- Their adorable chirping!
- Watching them grow

What I don't like:
- The dust...
- The shavings in the water, over and over and over again.
- Their ugly stage :p
- How dramatic they can be when they feel like they might get touched by "the hand".
- How long it takes for them to grow up.
- All of the poop

Hate:

I hate the fear of predators. Cleaning pooh, not my favorite. Sudden death. Giving away Roos. Seeing them fight. Picking them up for some lovin and realizing they just got pooh on your jacket.

Love:

Watching them on a sunny day in the warm green grass. Fluffy butts. The way they come running when they see me. Watching them as mothers. Fighting for treats. The inquisitive looks when they see something new. Enjoying them grow up. How much they get me to laugh no matter what kind of day I'm having.
