Whatcha Making for Supper?

Oktoberfest dinner here tonight: schnitzel, jaeger spaetzle, fresh green beans and a salad.

Yes, we did get a lot of green beans this year. I have several gallon bags of them blanched and in the freezer, but eating as many as we can fresh. They are so good.

I've been skipping suppers due to lunch holding me over. Weird. I must still have a little something, though I have stopped coughing.

But tonight I plan to make chicken fried steak with the usual mashed potatoes and corn... and another side I saw posted a while back, but if it was made I missed it. Shaved Brussels sprouts and shallots/garlic/parm.

The corn was a bit much. I didn't need two sides. That's for sure. So it got left behind.

This wasn't bad, but I still prefer sprouts sauteed. Seemed like a waste of shallots. The parm cheese was nice though. Who doesn't like cheese? :)

IDK Pac, I love shallots. They add that special something between and onion and garlic.

The Jaeger Spaetzle was so good, I'll have to do it again! Big hit with my dinner guests too!

That's exactly why I said they were a waste.
I think with the strong taste of the sprouts and the garlic that sweet onions would have sufficed. Save the shallots for something more delicate where they will be noticed.
IMO :)
