Whats a good paying hobby..?

Thank you. I learned it from a member on this forum who goes by Little Chicken Racing Team. She gave me a link to her directions for making the eggs. Look on page 2 of this thread to see her pictures. I'll look and see if I can find those directions again. I have them printed out but don't know if I have the thread still.

OMG, I am soooo going to do that! Thanks!

I think you did GREAT. I'd be embarassed to show you my first attempt. Did you use a metallic dark blue clay? I notice the border pattern sparkles.

And by the way....

I double checked tonight to make sure... and all my data indicates I'm a ROO not a hen.

Oh, I just keep putting my foot in my mouth.... . First I wish you a happy Thanksgiving on the US Thanksgiving, not the Canadian one. Then I use hen terminology when I should be using Roo words to describe you. Man oh man! I am sooo sorry.

Also, I just can't thank you enough for teaching me to make those eggs. I am on my third one and don't have one that is grandmother worthy yet. I'll keep trying till I get it right.

I used dark metallic blue and translucent light blue clays for the eggs.

I like the suggestion about doing yard work. DH would pay a lot more than $20 to have our driveway shoveled, leaves raked and cars washed!

Other odd jobs I did as a kid: pet-sitting, garden maintenance, farm work (picking fruit, veggies), hauling firewood, clearing brush from undeveloped lots, making holiday decorations.

You could also start garden seeds and sell the grown plants. You could combine the landscaping brush-clearing service with the holiday decorations--save the evergreen brush clippings and make them into holiday decorations. You'd still have to buy ribbon, candles, bells etc. for the holiday decorations, but you'd be getting paid twice over for your work. Similarly, you could combine pet-sitting (say, sweeping out chicken coops) with garden maintenance by bagging the composted manure for use as garden fertilizer.

Here is one of our attemps. This one hasn't been polished yet. The wax we have didn't really work on our other ones. Which brand have y'all been using? I was even considering shlack (sp?). Thanks. Suz

Oh My Gosh! That is beautiful! I want to learn to make these too! Where is the best place to get supplies online? I live in a remote area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we have no major stores within 80 miles. So I would have to get the supplies online. I am in total awe of these eggs and the process!

Thanks so much for sharing!
