What's A Good Small Lapdog?

If you are considering a Cavalier, do your research and find a good breeder -- they have become so popular that they are the 'flavor of the month' and temperaments are not what they used to be -- backyard breeders and puppy mills galore --

We've had Cavaliers for 23 years and have watched the temperaments going from 'way beyond mellow' to 'snippy' --
The disposition of a Cavalier should be its best feature --

Also, lots of health issues -- :-(

Lovely, lovely dogs --- can be the BEST of all -- if you are careful --
We have been active in Cavalier Rescue for many years -- three of ours are rescues who were pitiful -- and they are not the 'classic' beautiful Cavaliers --

Check the CKCSUSA website for lots of info --

My DW had a cockapoo for 13 years he was never yappy nor mean. Used to travel everywhere with us in the car and never caused a problem. Was easy to train and seemed very intelligent. Had short curly hair than wasn't a problem with grooming or shedding. Got along great with everyone of the cats, including kittens and totally ignored the chickens. As opposed to some of the bred down miniatures, he had hybrid vigor so no health problems until the day he died--on my wife's lap.

I also should mention, I have no problem with a mixed breed or "mutt". It doesn't need to be purebred at all. But at least if I educate myself on various breeds and their nature, it might help me choose a mutt if I have an idea of its' make up.
