What's a mutt chicken ??

what is the meaning of mutt chicken ?? and are these chicken good as egg layers ??

well uhm lets see a mutt is a mix of 2 or more breeds..
alot of the hatchery egg layers are acually mutts as they cross 2 breeds to make better egg layers....
There are good egg layers that are not mutts like Leghorns, Minorcas,Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks to name a few..

Any chicken that is not a purebred. Any chicken that does not reproduce true to the line. Most cross breeds. Some of your best layers are mutts and you don't have near the problems with them. We crossed a Leghorn Roo with Black Sex-Link Hens and got an all white chicken that looks a lot like a White Rock. Had for hens fromm the first hatch. When the started to lay, all 4 of them went 37 days straight laying before one missed. Easter Eggers are a great example of a mutt chicken. They lay great but are just a mixed breed.

Is mating a male black sex-link with male Black sex-link will give sex-links or mutts ??

This is my newest mutt. I love mutts. It's a surprise in every egg!

The mohawk cracks me up. This one is a cross of a silver spangled hamburg and a black polish roo.

Sex-links don't breed true- so the chicks would not be color-identifieable at birth. They'd still be great layers.
