what's everyone's hallowen plans?

I LOVE Halloween, makes me furious when someone tries to tell me its an evil holiday. . .I already have some of my stuff hanging up. I want DS to go as Zorro, I buy up stuff after Halloween, that is the best time. One year at WM, I got Ben Grimm and Batman costumes for a quarter!!!!!!!!!!! I bought three each and gave them to kids the next year that didn't have money or a mom who gave a flip to help them create.. I have an awesome Zorro hat I have had in storage for 4 years, and I told Chan he could wear tight pants (should have seen the look on his face) with a girly white shirt (really should have seen the look on his face when I told him that!!!!

) but when he found out he carried a big sword, that was the defining moment!!!! I don't usually dress up, but use to when I worked at school and we had a cool principal!!! Kids loved it. Let's all take pictures!!! LOVE Halloween!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I know! Our neighbor (the mother of my best friend at that time) married a man who thought that Halloween was evil, which wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't had decided to impose his will on my friend and his brother. That was the first time in their lives they weren't allowed to celebrate, and it broke my Mom's heart to see how happy they were when she managed to sneak them out to help us carve pumpkins. Luckily I've never liked candy, so I gave my entire haul to them. Couldn't have taken the place of actually trick or treating, I know, but I think it helped.

You know, my favorite way to celebrate is the carving of pumpkins. I know that may seem very mundane compared to the other stuff I do over the holiday, but Halloween isn't Halloween until my first cut into a pumpkin. For some reason I skipped it one year, and it managed to ruin the entire holiday for me.

Lol, I've been thinking about Halloween since June. October thoughts usually begin that early for me, and I always look for Halloween supplies year round.

I celebrate Halloween all month long by going to all the haunted houses and haunted wood walks I can find, cooking Halloween themed dishes all month long, spending ours elbow deep in pumpkin goop, watching a few scary movies (the only time of year I'm willing to do that, as it means I won't be sleeping well for several weeks, I'm such a weenie), throwing an adults only party, and going to the Texas Renaissance Festival. That last one doesn't have much to do with Halloween, actually, but there's dressing up involved and it's always part of my October fun, so I figure it should count.

Do you like Halloween?

Nope. Loathe it. Does it show?

sorry

I don't know how "devil worship" ever got connected to halloween to begin with, its far from satanic! In my opinion its just an older version of all saints day in a way...

eta: "Catholics inherited their own days of the deceased from the Celtic Festival of the Dead at Samhain, which was a time of great festivity and feasting. Mexican people still honor the festive celebration of the dead inherited from both their Meso-American and European ancestors."

same drink, different label.
