WHATS IN YOUR INCUBATOR THIS WEEK

Well this is disappointing, I thought this would be better but its worse. First off I am getting late hatches like day 22-23 and might get a day 24. I think I had the humidity up to high for the 1st 20 days at around 50-55% but that is in line with story's. One chick, the first one is healthy and lively, the others just are not as good and I suspect mushy chick because one has a huge belly and is slow to move around. I pulled them out of the incubator and moved them over showed them food and water and have them under a heat lamp. This pic is the healthy one.

I have 6 out of 12 of my frizzled turkens made it past day 15. now 4 of the 6 arerocking around in my incubator. They started yest so I put them on lockdown early. I read that when they start rocking they are getting in position so upped the humidity and just watch them now. My temp did run high, about 102 so I'm guessing that's the reason for the early rocking.

Well my wife thinks I am addicted to hatching birds

. I have 16 ranger eggs in now. I had a hatch after the bad one and I used the dry incubation method and love it. Lots of jersey giants but not so with the rangers. So here I go again. When I checked the ranger eggs they had the fertile bulls eye so who knows. This is day 17 and I will candle tomorrow. only 22 chicks so far this year so what is my wife saying

After a busy 3 1/2 month of running the incubater, I've got my last eggs ready for lockdown today...there are 9 quail ( a friends eggs) in the bater now....Have had fair success with this years play time....Started March 7 with the Easter Hatch and moved into geese..then mix of EE, Jersey Giant and Batam..Then a mix of duck , adding chicken eggs on 7th day..I have a still air incubater as a starter and backup when the other with turner is occupied
This year it averaged 60% hatch for chicken and 80% for duck and goose.....will be interesting to see how many quail are hatched as they where handlled and .maybe not that carefully before I recieved them. This hobby of hatching has taken much of my spring...love it...only drawback is the babysitting, feeding and cleaning the new hatchlings until they are ready to rehome or sell.....It will be nice to reclaim my den/fowl nursery back until next year. I'll probably get the broody bug back again..:)
