At my house it is pretty much a draw on which one is the cleanest or the dirtiest. I know that either animal can make a person sick, if a person doesn't wash their hands regularly. But then I think that people are dirty too.

I cant keep my dog OUT of the water. She is is a Bordrador Colliever

(lab/border collie) her daily rounds are jump in the pond, chickypoo snack, and whatever scratch she can find. She is just a pup so im hoping she will grow out of it.

and if I have the hose, you bet your butt she'll be right there trying to jump in it

Dirt is dirt and i guess it would depend how many layers is left ofter they shake it off

but the dirt is still there even if ya can't see it just like the dirt on your clean looking shoes.
