Whats one breed you own that you would not get again?

Standard. I really like some aspects of their personality because they're also quite comical and people curious, but hard to contain and loud don't work well in town. The roos only lived at my house for two weeks when they were cockerels before my Dad and Sis bought them and three pullets.
When we visit we have to make sure the roosters and kids don't mix. They kept the less agressive one but he's still so big and protective of his hens, I don't want my kids near him. His name is Beast (my sister named him that, because he's a big guy)
Ah, okay. I do love how impressive the standards look. Maybe the temperaments are something that changed between the two sizes

It may be. I suspect some inbreeding may have been involved in the line I had as well. The hatch included some deformed dead in shell chicks. I ordered the eggs from someone on Ebay that no longer sells. In any case, if I were living somewhere out in the country I'd give them another chance but my yard is better suited to breeds that don't mind staying on the ground, haha

I won't be getting any more Australorps. Their frequent broodiness means that they stop laying for an extended period until I can break them out of it and they go back to laying. Nice enough birds and good layers, but I live in a residential area, so I can't/won't have any roosters. Their broodiness has no upside for me. Also, all three of the Australorps I've had were very skittish compared to their flock mates.

I've seen threads on what breeds you want to get but I haven't seen any threads on breed(s) you don't want to get! So let me know which breed of chicken you've had and wouldn't get again, if you'd like to, tell me why.
Golden Comet. Owned two, and although they are fantastic production birds, both died from reproductive problems before they were 3 years old.

Speckled Sussex, All the roosters are jerks, the hens are small and skittish, and don't lay as well as I want for my layer flock

Penedesenca. I ordered two “pullets” along with other large fowl layers from Meyer. One turned out to be a rooster and he was the most aggressive breeder I have ever had. My hens didn’t like him at all. At 4 months old he managed to snap his Achilles Tendon jumping down from a 1 foot roost. The hen was more nervous than a Leghorn. She laid beautiful dark eggs for a few weeks then went broody at 6 months old. I gave her eggs from my Orpingtons and she was a surprisingly excellent mother but wouldn’t let her chicks come near me. She died at 9 months old out in the woods from an unknown cause. Her chicks are now young layers but they are still more nervous than the pullets raised by calmer hens.

I’m not a big fan of Leghorns either but I’d take one any day over a Penedesenca.

Wyandottes. I was surprised at how small they were, and the eggs were tiny, and I mean tiny. They weren’t very good layers, not friendly, and weak as chicks. Not to mention stupid and not predator aware. Very pretty chickens, but not meant for free ranging or “rugged” environments.

Wyandottes with tiny eggs?
