What's the best chicken treat???

When my chickens were all sick they went nuts over a warm bowl of oatmeal every morning! Now that it's hotter outside they are loving me to bring them cold watermelon rinds. I just cut the watermelon in half and scoop the insides out with an ice cream scooper, making sure to leave some watermelon behing, and refrigerate the rinds. Once the temps. get into the 90's, usually around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, I take them the rinds. They go nuts! They also like cheerios, go nuts for cherry pie, chopped up spagetti, cantalope rinds, clover, worms, hard boiled eggs, cornbread with or without olive oil, kale, etc... The list goes on and on!

Oh yeah, spaghetti is a fun one!

I had some leftover stir fry. My RIR picked out all the onions and wouldn't share!

The others were more interested in rice anyway.

Hmmm....? Bread is there top fun food...I did have a little brown toad happen to wonder into the run....and there was a all out chase for the poor thing... The girl that ended up with it was pretty messed up for a short time...I kinda think she was seeing double.

I give mine lots of watermelon. They love it cold, but they like it best after it's sat in the sun awhile. I haven't tried it myself, but I suspect it's begun to ferment a little at that stage. I put half of a seedless melon out there not long ago. They ate all the flesh pretty quickly and left a big puddle of juice in the middle. They drank that juice all the next day. I call it their hunch punch.
