Whats the best farm animal to keep predators away?????

Now to go along with what aprophet has mentioned, I'd ditch the shovel and use the harvested predators as bait.

For awhile I had a mule filly, and I was totally shocked at the drive she had to keep assorted critters off the property. She killed several stray dogs, as well as some RABBITS. I am not a mule lover, but she sure was effective! And she was all of 2 months old.
 
Your cousin should keep them penned up during the day and a nice sturdy coop at night.
