I'm going to say something that may make me unpopular now. As a suggestion for the future (and anyone else reading this thread), may I advise not speaking your plans to co-workers first. Your boss (the one signing your paycheck and any letters of recommendation) has the right to know your plans first. S/he does not deserve, nor want, to hear about them from someone else. You also never know how someone would love to just run back to him/her and start an unpleasant situation for you.
Ok, now, back to the good stuff. Congratulations for getting through your resignation well and with nice comments and actions from your boss. Looks as if it was a well managed, pleasant place to work.
