What's the best way to quit your job? [Update, post 37]

I'm glad things worked out well for you. Quitting is so nerve-racking. I hate having to do that.

I'm going to say something that may make me unpopular now. As a suggestion for the future (and anyone else reading this thread), may I advise not speaking your plans to co-workers first. Your boss (the one signing your paycheck and any letters of recommendation) has the right to know your plans first. S/he does not deserve, nor want, to hear about them from someone else. You also never know how someone would love to just run back to him/her and start an unpleasant situation for you.

Ok, now, back to the good stuff. Congratulations for getting through your resignation well and with nice comments and actions from your boss. Looks as if it was a well managed, pleasant place to work.
Best wishes for your future!

See, people who CARE are the good workers. It was good of her to TELL you that.
That's why it bothered you so much, you are a good person, AND worker!
Good luck!

BorderKelpie is so right. Have you ever had a first person tell a story and then everyone around the table repeats it? Sometimes the story is unrecognizable with the last person. Also how something is repeated is changed with body language.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Obviously, your boss valued your work ethic.

Oh yes, I probably shouldn't have talked to them.. but if I hadn't, I probably wouldn't have told her when I did.
One of my favorite employees (the only other girl in our area) talked me into it.
Not only that she said she didn't know what she was going to do when I left.

I don't know how I'll handle my last day.. I've made so many friends.

So last Saturday was my last day at my job. When I got there I was taken back and given a box. On top of the box was a free pizza ticket for a pizza with any topping on it. Inside the little box was a cake. If anyone is my friend on Facebook, you might have already seen it.. but here it is for the rest of you.

I got hugs from everyone as they left for the night as well. I was told that very few people actually finish out to their last day after giving their notice.
