What's the breed of your favorite chicken.....

My favourite hen is named Peck or Prickle as we like to call her lol and she is a hybrid layer - a Hyline Brown all my girls were hand raised and so love cuddles and come running to see their 'mummy hen'! A favourite trick is to roost on mummy - on my shoulder like big parrots lol.

I've got 3RIR,3BO,4BR,3 Golden Comets and 3 Cinnamon Queens.I love them all but have a "special" one that gets extra attention. Dust,a CQ, which is a x between SLW and a RIR hen. She is such a beautiful cinnamon color with awesome penciling. Thing about her she knows that she is my girl,the other day I opened the coop door and happened to picked up Butter, a BO and Dust ran over. I set Butter down and Dust attacked her,not badly but as to say stay away from him. Then Later in the day I picked up another and the same thing happened, Dust runs over gives Bourbon a chest bump with her neck feathers up. Funny,flattering and shocking all at once.

My favorite chicks is Blondie, she is a Golden Comet we raised from one day old. I have posted a story about how Blondie got chased by dogs and ran off into the woods. When she returned, she was the favorite. She follows my every where I go in the pen. If you don't pet her or give her a treat, she will stand by your leg and lightly peck and cluck. She has to have a back rub every day, she just gets close and squats down so you can rub her. Only problem, she knows she is the favorite and she will take advantage of it. She doesn't fight with the others for grapes, she just stands close and clucks, she knows the grapes are comming her way.

Not necessarily, most bantams are smaller versions of large fowl breeds. There are a few bantam breeds, that have no large fowl counter part . My girl is full grown, and weighs about one pound dripping wet. How big, and how old is your chick? Also, is the chick the same size as the others?

It's so neat to hear everyone's stories. It seems any breed can end up being the favorite. All my girls are friendly and get held but my Harriet is a dog in training. Keep the stories coming!
