What's the dish on pigs?

We name all our pigs "Dinner, Hambino, Potpie, Vitiles, Whatever"
the only problem we had with ours was the fact that they are GREAT escape artist.

I wish I could find someone selling Berkshires. I was looking at some Berkshire carcasses at my butcher yesterday. They were the fattest pigs hanging, but their meat was incredibly dark red. It looked darker than most of the meat hanging there.

just to add, pigs are very strong and very curious. Be sure to have plenty of room or they will find a way to get out.

We're getting them because we heard they are by far, the absolute best. We have to drive almost 6 hours, one way, to get them. Not too many people around here with them. My pigs are the tams...these are my DH's. He is so excited about them, he said he'd probably sleep down in the pig pen with them on the first night!! (I told him to go ahead...one night without snoring!)

The dish is, you should definately get some. They like to escape, and are a little smelly, but boy are they YUMMY! We have been enjoying our home grown pork very much!

Hog panels come in one size, which is 34" (I think). Coyotes will not take a pig, unless it's very small and the only one. Even then, the pig would probably kill several coyotes before it succumbed.

I have coyotes everywhere here. I sleep easy knowing the pigs would more likely take out the coyote than the other way around. They are wrecking balls made out of solid muscle and bad temper when cornered.

I'm having trouble visualizing a 'pig pen'. Could some of you post photos if you happen to have any? Please and thank you. I appreciate all the help!

i just had one of our sows have her first set of pigs today.. they are all healthy and precious.. but they are all destined for the freezer.. they are still a one of the best meat buys you can raise.. good luck!!!
