What's the stupidest car damage you've ever done to your own car?

I always back into my gates. I will never learn. my gates are ble and there is blu scrapes on my bumper

Well, my damage story isn't exactly my fault, but it's profoundly stupid.

A couple months ago I went through the car wash. The idiot machine gobbled up my fuel tank cover and ripped it clean off the car.
I had to hold up the line and trudge back in the car wash to dig the thing out of those big vertical brushes.
Gas station insisted it was not their problem because I must have left the flap open. I DID NOT leave the flap open.

I've poked around junkyards looking for my car's twin so I can get a new cover, but I've yet to have any luck. I refuse to let the dealership scalp me for repairs, so I watch and wait.

I was backing out of the driveway not realizing the gate wasnt opene QUITe far enough. BIG scratch down the passenger side of the car.

The 1st incident to my car was done by me...I backed into the rear of my husband's tow truck and punctured a hole in the plastic piece where my rear brake lights are located, made a nice huge hole which I refuse to pay big bucks to repair. The 2nd incident was me trying to go up a very steep driveway and I scraped the bottom of the bumper so badly on this horrible incline that I ripped off part of the bottom of my plastic bumper, not too noticeable believe it or not. The 3rd incident was done by my hubby...he was trying to put a huge stone into the trunk of my car (to be used for the headstone of our dog that passed away) and he lost his grip a little bit and the corner of the stone hit the side of my car, making a huge scratch and dent - still not fixed to this day either. Can't believe my little car is still running the way we treat it!!

I have 2... but one was not my fault

I was VERY pregnant with DD and I was backing my van into the parking spot and there was a tree on the other side of the fence that had a really low hanging branch well the branch hit my back window and smashed the glass... I told the DR that happened and by the time i went back next week the branch was gone

the other one... this is not my fault...
I was at the gas station and was leaving, there was a car being pushed into the station (put of gas) well i pulled over to the little piece of the driveway that was paved... and as i went to leave i hear... SCRAPE.... get out look under the van and I am on a tree stump. so either way you look at it... I am loosing my muffler.. as i drive off it i tore the muffler off... what arse first paves around a tree stump... and then allows the leaves to pile up there?

That I've done... hmmm... wow, can't think of anything... I'll ask DH, whatta ya wanna bet he knows?
Actually, I can't think of any dumb ones that DH's done either.

I do know OTHERS have plowed a trailer hitch into my plastic bumper and driven off.
Pulled out of their drive and left a huge dent in my truck fender.
Rear ended me while I was stopped at a stop sign.
Then there was the 90yr woman who plowed through the red light, looking behind her so she could make a lane change in said intersection, and T-boned us.

My MIL once closed the garage door on the trunk of her car...
which I don't think is any worse than FIL backing into a concrete post but he seems to disagree.

Well, it wasn't me, but I have to tattle-tail on my hubby. When he was a senior in high school, he was coming down a long crooked road with a friend who would not stop talking. He was getting tired and irritated, so he decided to speed. He ended up turning the steering wheel more than what was needed since he was irritated and ended up sliding off of the road and into a road sign. The state sent him a bill for the sign and he had to have the side of his car fixed. He said it was well worth the girlish screams from his friend.
