Wildlands Festival attendee Dominic Bilton said he tried to stay cool by "sticking to the walls" as he waited to get in, but panic still set in.

Organisers, responding to the 28-year-old's complaint, acknowledged "the challenges faced during entry" and said they would investigate "ways to improve the flow and comfort of festival goers upon arrival".

The organisers did not respond to questions from the ABC.

Mr Bilton, 28, said he had hoped for a fun night out with friends but the situation quickly turned "dangerous" and "scary".

Mr Bilton, who is a frequent festival goer, said he would not return to Wildlands this year.

"I've seen festivals manage weather really well in the past when there's been some extreme weather events," he said.

"This was the worst one that I've ever been to."
