It's gonna be one of those nites ...

We had a tornado. That doesn't usually happen here. We lost parts of our fence and roof, and a big tree that provided shade for the side of our house, thankfully it fell away from the house into the street. Our neighbors all have similar damage. We have power and everyone is okay. Power has been out for hours in the surrounding areas.

We were outside at our coop when it hit and we just held onto the coop as best we could. It's in a relatively sheltered part of the yard and took some damage but it's basically okay and the chickens are fine.

Everything else in the yard was destroyed. I have never seen wind, rain, and hail hit that hard before. We have parts of pine and juniper trees in our yard and there aren't any trees like that for miles around here.

There was a lot of damage in our area. We're hearing reports of 80mph winds and the collapse of a local mall. We have violent storms in the summer here but I don't think anyone was ready for a tornado.

So sorry, Emma. That had to be so scary! Glad everyone was okay!

I shouldn't complain about 85 when you and so many are hitting the hundreds. It's just that darned humidity makes it so hard to breathe.
