What's the temperature where you are???

Sometimes we get a scanty few flakes in early Oct. In a few years we didn't get snow till after Christmas. But you never know. Last winter was bitter cold but not much snow.

Some years ago we had 26" from one snow storm. Think the snow is better than ice any day.

Sue you can keep the cicadas- you call it singing, I call it screeching. We are due for 17 yr.Cicadas soon, the billions upon billions. Last time they said exposure to their noise for an hour could permanently cause hearing loss. What??? I have something valid to blame it on instead of old age???

There are dozens of kinds of cicadas, some are periodical, some are annual. So many different songs, and yes some are very loud. Here's a sampling:

I could never recognize all the ones we have, but like to try. We have one they call the 'scissors grinder.' On that page, it's N. pruinosus pruinosus in the list at the bottom. I like to think it says my name over and over....Suuuuzzzzzzzeeeeeee
At the very bottom of the page, you can click on Q. Gigas, one of the very loud species. We don't have it here....people say it keeps them awake.
