What's the temperature where you are???

Sad fact - it's something to have on the back burner. Water availability, with all its ramifications, is becoming an ever greater concern.
We do at least have water here. Though our big pond has shrunk considerably, and one of the smaller ones is almost dry. If not for the springs, we'd be a big dust bowl.

We're already planning. People keep moving to the desert in droves, that's not sustainable now, let alone long term without some significant tech development (think wind traps) Some place North if us, with a deep aquifer and a well are in our future. I will never be able to be fully off grid, I need my internet too much, but as self-sufficient as possible is the goal.

We are 30 minutes from anywhere, but not off the grid.
It makes me laugh when I see those you tubers claiming they are off the grid, while recording their YouTube videos.
I love internet service and phone service. I need FedEx deliveries too.
I guess if it came down to it, we could live off grid for a few years. But it's pointless to speculate; without TV for him, and kindle books for me, we'd kill each other off pretty quickly.
