Javelina’s kind of look like giant possums

Ha! They do look like possums there. They're peccaries so they're sort of pig-like with scary teeth. They aren't aggressive towards people unless you surprise them. That doesn't happen often because they stink to high heaven so you smell them long before you see them.

Yep. There are a lot of them here and it's legal to hunt them. I haven't tasted the meat but it's supposed to be a little gamey so people use them in marinades and stews.
