The brother of a man who went missing while fishing in the waters off southern NSW has offered a $25,000 reward for help as the desperate search enters its third day.

Mohammed Saad, writing on social media on Wednesday night, said “it’s time Micky comes home”, offering $25,000 to anyone who locates the man.

All we want is Micky to come home and with this $25,000 reward I’m sure will get the number of boats we need out there to search for him.”

The desperate multi-agency search ramped up on Tuesday night after the boat of the 35-year-old fisherman was found off Sydney’s south.

“Just after 7pm (on Tuesday), officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were called to a boat ramp near Port Hacking Rd, Dolans Bay, due to concerns a man had not returned after going fishing earlier in the day,” police said in a statement.

“Police were told the 35-year-old man left Dolans Bay about 9am in his 6m boat.”

The Water Police, Marine Rescue NSW and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority were called in to search for the man.

The AMSA Challenger jet located the boat at 12.15am on Wednesday some 15 nautical miles off Port Kembla.

Botany Water Police recovered the boat, but there was no sign of the man.

The search resumed again on Thursday morning.

After a cool morning (14C) it warmed up nicely for a high of 28C (82 F), it is desperately dry here, right straight through to St Johns Newfoundland.

It is unheard of in St Johns to have wildfires - snow, rain, ice yes. Fires never. My cousin and his family are on standby to evacuate.

Here there are wild fires about an hour away, all the damaged trees down by the ice storm in April is now tinder dry and fuel for fires.

The farmers are at the point were even if we did get rain it will be too late for their crops. The soy beans are wilting, corn is just not developing. There is no second cut hay. I was very lucky and got my hay already. I am sure it will be extremely expensive come February.

Here, I have been watering my fruit trees daily, the paddocks are dried to a crisp, even the weeds are drying out. I am desperate to get my paddocks cut down to remove dry fuel just incase of a bush fire here.

I am thinking of putting a sprinkler around the barn to keep the vegetation from getting any drier.

My manure pile was removed and trucked away yesterday and the ground under it was so dry that the front end loader didn’t even leave ruts. Unbelievable!

This weekend I need to haul the lid off my well to see how the water level is fairing. I am absolutely gobsmacked at how FAST things have dried out here, last year was a wet year, then a heavy snow load winter and cool wet Spring. I would not have thought it would dry so fast.

Currently it’s 24C (75f), low forecast to be 15C (59f). No appreciable rain is predicted 😞
