This morning it was -1C brrrrr! Currently 13C (55F), looks like some Northern Lights will be on tap for tonight.
Day light hrs are getting really short now, which means night time temps are cold now.

Ooo... if you can take a picture of the Northern Lights I'd love to see them. Seeing them somewhere in person is on my bucket list.
Here the daylight hours don't change much, we go from 15 in summer to 11 in winter. It's about the same for my home town in California, which is almost on the same latitude. The hens' laying rate doesn't change much, either, although they slow down a bit when it gets too hot in the desert.
Where I lived in Ireland is 20 degrees further north and there are 17 hours of daylight in summer. I remember walking home from a party at 10PM and it was still light out. Then it drops to about 7.5 hours in December. Such a big swing.
Yes - same here. Another reason I dislike winter, it’s so dark.
When I was working in the far north during the summer it would still be light at midnight! But come winter, the sun would rise at around 9am and go down at 3am.
My phone is the pits for taking night photos, but I will post a photo my sister sent from Wawa Ontario last month.
I’ll post their visitor also…![]()
Do you have to take vitamin D in winter? Here we take it during the summer because we're stuck indoors.
Awesome photo of the northern lights!Yes I do, and the chooks alsoWill soon have to start that I guess. It's been so sunny this year (and hope it stays that way) that the early evenings haven't been so bad.
Here are a couple of photos for you to enjoy, my sister and BIL at the lake enjoying the Aurora Borealis

Sorry so noisey there! Here we hear a bit of road noise but otherwise cows mooing and roosters crowing in the distance is about it!72F at 8:45 A.M. Will be 85F today.
Yesterday the power went out for about an hour while they were were doing some maintenance work down the street. The NOISE was gone for that time: the LOUD A/C and the LOUD swamp cooler and the LOUD fans and the LOUD air cleaners.
Above all that cacophony, you have to have LOUD conversations and LOUD tv and LOUD radio and LOUD music and it's LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD for month after month after month and it drives me absolutely bonkers. I can't stand so much constant racket and I hate yelling. I've never heard of people living in such ridiculous conditions, especially not for eight months of the year. It makes your ears ring.
Yesterday we had blissful, peaceful quiet, at least for a short while. Ahhhhhhhh...
16 more days until summer is over and we can go back to civilized quiet.
Here in Northen Indiana I have seen them twice in my life both times were very dramatic! We just don`t see them very often here. I think you are very lucky to see them often! IMHO one of natures wonders!Just in from the barn, none to be seen tonight, likely nearer midnight may see some. I’ll check if I am awake then. Suppose to cloud over by morning so likely not see anything at 4am either.
