What's the temperature where you are???

They hate it. I've never seen them stand in rain, they do everything to avoid it.
I guess that makes sense for chickens that don't see rain very often!

Mine mostly ignore it unless it's really heavy, and sometimes even then...

It's 52° and wonderfully drippy AGAIN at 8:30 A.M. What a nice start to the year! :ya High of 70°. Chicken delights are warm oatmeal with salmon oil and peas.

Ha! Definitely different. Our chickens: "What? What is this stuff? Is it wet? Why is it wet? We don't do wet." All of the pens and runs are covered so they don't get wet unless they want to stand around the edges, which they don't do when it's raining.

The door on …. Your house? Being stuck outside - my can commiserate!

Your vehicle - yep been there also!

Barn - nope thankfully not but have had to shovel the sucker clear many a time to slide it open! Don’t you just love snow and winter?!

Currently -11C (12F), and more snow on the way yay! I get to shovel more snow woohoo!

Have a safe and amazing day everyone!
What do you do when your house and car doors are frozen shut? 🤔

Silly boy 😊

I have silkies that do that - the rest will run inside but they will just toodle around in the rain eating bugs….. then when they come in they expect me to dry them off ! What am I, I ask you? An employee of Chicks Inc?

Well if the house door at the front is frozen then I hope someone is home to let me in! If not then I go find the back door key trudge around the back (usually through a couple feet of snow) and go in that way.

If the vehicle doors are frozen from let’s say freezing rain then I remote start my vehicle and hope the heat inside warms the vehicle enough to soften the ice encasing the vehicle. Sometimes condensation freezes the door seal to the vehicle, and again hope the vehicle warms it up enough to melt it.

If you don’t have remote start then you have to either wait for the sun to melt the ice or carefully chip the ice but you run the risk of damaging the paint doing that!

I'm in No. Central West Virginia...it was -11 (that's not a typo, yes MINUS 11 Degrees) this morning! I hope I don't find chicken-pops when I go to feed and water this morning!

Yesterday, the radio said Alaska was averaging 40 degrees, it was -5 here at the time! I don't like the heat, but this is CRAZY COLD!

How frozen are you guys???
It's not 40* where I am. It's 2* with negatives at night. I've moved my girls and roo inside the coop, added a radiant heater and its' stable at 22*. Most have frostbite! Which worries me. We have another week of very cold temps. We're about two months ahead of ourselves on the cold. Yippee! Can't wait for February :)
