whats the worst gift you have ever recieved?

That's just so sweet . . . I can imagine his excitement.

What's y'all's opinion . . . is it more insulting to receive clothing that is way too small, or way too big? My SO receives clothes from his family and looks sad for a few days, wondering just how big they think he is. I wind up having to tell him he's the sexiest man on the planet and his family just has a hard time viewing things in three dimensions. They do seem to think he's at least four times larger than he actually is, poor thing.
I think it's equally bad . . . my advice: ask for sizes.

You guys are reallt bringing back memories!

You know when you buy cosmetics or perfumes it'll come with a free item of some sort? Well one year my ex-MIL got my ex-SIL a bottle of nice perfume. I got the tacky tote bag that came with it free. And I got the tacky purse that came with ex-SIL's new make-up kit. They knew me well enough to know that I am not a pleather kind of person, so I was really hurt.

I tend to buy large because I automatically assume it will shrink or draw up. Especially if DH is doing the laundry!

Oh, I'm sorry, but would it offend you terribly if I cracked up laughing over this

People can be so thoughtless.

I got a baby pram for my 18th B'day, I am now 39 and realise it was just what I needed, but I feel your pain, at the time I sat and cried.

The good news is this year my DD who is 20 and my DH clubed together and took me to Morocco for my B day and my DH replaced my tiny glass ring with a beautiful diamond ring... who would have thought two kids so poor and unprepared for parenthood would be together more than 20 years later

THe very best present i ever got was for my wedding with my now not so dear EX-DH. His aunts boss gave us a 100$ thermos carafe. THat woman barely knew us. But hey they have money up the wazoo. Her son got a car dealership for his 21st bday rom his father and she gave a 800$ drumset away when her son was tired of it.

No. I can almost laugh now, too, although it really hurt at the time.

And I never see one of those kinds of sales without thinking of my ex-family. Lessons on what NOT to do should my kids ever get married!
