The first year the ex and I were married he bought me a littermaid for christmas. Nothing else just the kitty poop scooping box.

I don't mind being the recipient of a re-gift, but most of the time it's clutter I don't need.
The most memorable cruddy gift I got was from my Dad's mother (my grandmother who is no longer with this world). Now before I sound like a snot-nosed brat...
She always asked my folks what my kid brother wanted for Christmas, but never me. She would get a ton of gifts off of his list, and then go off the list for me. I ended up getting an etcha-sketch for Christmas when I was 14 years old, and then the following Christmas I got the same thing.. another etcha-sketch.
I hate etcha-sketches now.
My brother (for the record) got everything he asked for from her. She was so excited that she had a grandson. Thank goodness my mother's Mom spoiled me rotten and if she didn't stick to the list, at least she didn't get me the same under-aged gifts twice... or at all for that matter.

My Dad and my step mom were split for my birthday two years ago (turned 21), and my Dad was seeing someone. It was his idea to go out for my birthday and invite some friends. This was sorta normal, he had done it two years in a row.
I only invited my best friend and her boyfriend (aswell as DH, obviously) because I didn't want it to be expensive for my Dad.
We show up at dinner, and he walked in with his new girlfriend. I thought, "ok, wierd, but go with it.." They continued to order wonderful meals and I had told my friends prior to dinner to order as if they were paying, just incase.
My Dad's girlfriend showed off her new diamond earrings my Dad just bought her. I was a little mad because they hadn't been dating longer than 2 months. Whatever
When it came time to paying for dinner, he said "Well here is our portion of the meal." and he layed down $40! Their meal was an easy $60! So not only was this HIS idea, but we all had to pay for ourselves, me included!
Needless to say, I was embarassed because I had friends along, I was angry as hell because I had to pay for him and myself, and I got NO card, NO gift, and not even a Thank you for picking up the rest.

He obviously doesn't know how I feel to this day.

Geeze, you females are picky lot! Y'all remind me of my wife's attitude, the year I that bought her the ThighMaster.
Every year my MIL makes a big deal out of asking what I want for my birthday and Christmas. She will ask until I tell her something.This has been going on for 4 years. I don't remember what I told her for myself for Christmas last year but I told her that DH wanted a fishing lisence for 2008. Imagine our surprise on Christmas when I opened a $10 basket of bath stuff (that is still wrapped in plastic and hiding in the cupboard, I can't even regift it.) and DH got pjs. He doesn't wear pjs. Ever. This year my birthday rolls around and leading up to it she keeps asking what I want. I tell her that the day after my birthday I am going to get 2 new silkie chicks and if she wanted to contribute to the cost of them that would be good. I figured for DH's bday he usually gets cash so I would make it easy and ask for the same thing. Here is what I got....a childs porcelin Sleeping Beauty doll. It wasn't even wrapped. Next time she asks what I want, the response will be "nothing".

Well all the aunt's and uncle's and cousins started showing up and the food filled the table and the gifts under the tree were so inticeing to us young folks. All of us gathered around the tree looking for our names and i didn't see mine and i was just a little upset. It was probaly a small one and i had visions of earings and necklace's.
We said the prayer and stuffed our selves on the delicious food and then it was time for gifts. Take your seats everybody and we will pass out the gifts my cousin and i sat together. They brought her gift it was a complete makeup kit and then my other cousin got a watch and another a bracelet. I was dying where was my gift and finally here it comes it wasn't small it was long and as I tore open the paper it was revealed to be and UMBRELLA
. Mama Always said except what you get and be thankful i thanked my aunt and she said that will come in handy on rainy days.
I wanted to die the kids were trying on makeup and setting watches and i went outside and sat on the steps. I opened my umbrella and sat there as people walked by they ask what i was doing i said just enjoying my gift.
