One of the worst gifts we ever got was a wedding present. We were given these hideously ugly brown plate set of 4 that had a flower thing in the middle. With it came really cheap salt and pepper shakers with 3 wallet sized frames that were supposed to be silver. When we opened the gifts with just our parents around we smiled. My MIL took the plates to look at and started laughing. She pointed to two small initials on the bottom of the plates and said they were given to her on her wedding days 45 years prior to mine. She hated them and regifted them to a cousin. Upon further investigation we found this gift regifted several times. I took them to Deseret Industries thrift store. As for the silver shakers and frames. The "silver" flaked off as we opened the gift. The worse part was that the gift came from a very, very well off relative. He had inherited millions from parents and business deals.

But not to be construde as selfish. We were truly grateful he came to the wedding. We would have been sad otherwise.

Someone once gave me a used set of Tupperware containers. A couple still had cereal dust in the bottom, and one smelled like spoilt milk.

Another regift I got was a bath set. Unopened but it had been around for a while. You could tell by all the dust on top of the packaging!
Folks, if you regift be sure to dust off the top first!!!

you know i am a little confused about something...you see them all over the place this time of year...the bath gift set...unless it was by a major designer ..big label...for the most part they are very inexpensive (quality not price) ...my DH used to suggest this for my mom ALL the time....then one day i said to him...are you quietly trying to tell her she stinks and needs a bath?

When I was about 16, my Grandma got me a pair of sexy undies and had made sure I opened them in front of the whole family. I was, of course, mortified.

the worst gift i ever got was a wedding present as well. we like very log cabin-y decor, you know, rustic stuff. my uncle's friend (who i have known forever, she knows what i like, and she owns a really cool gift shop) sent me bright red, modern style, plastic drinking cups. dh hates bright red too. they stay in the back of the pantry, and we use them for when kids come over. i dont think she picked them out herself, just had one of her employees do it. *sigh* i take pride in picking out gifts i think people will actually use and enjoy, why doesnt everyone else!?!?!

I remember one particular Christmas party and gift exchange we had at my work. We were to draw names and spend about $10 on a gift, no more than $15. All was good, then I was very humbled and humiliated when I got my gift.....lol.

It is so funny now looking back.

My gift came from a guy that was the most "penny pinching" person among us.

Maybe a whole 50 cents at most....lol. My first thought was this is a joke. Then I realized it was not.

I thanked him but thought to myself geeessss, what's his problem?

Maybe he doesn't like me.
Throughout the years, I shared my hobby of chickens, gave him eggs, and birds.

I never charged him a cent. I wanted him to see that giving something away would not bankrupt him.
