What's this in my hen's poop?

I've never seen this before. It's the white things. It looked and felt like rock salt. I thought maybe it was grit, but I don't think so. She is in a run, and eats Layena crumbles and I give them mixed bird seed in the a.m. for a treat. I also have been giving them seedless watermelon.
Any ideas?

Looks as if she is picking up grit of some sort. As you probably know poultry eat grit which tends to build up in their gizzards and aids in the 'grinding'/digestion of their feed. Frequently grit particles will be passed in their feces.
