Maybe everyone else knows this already, but since I had so many broody hens hatch chicks this spring, I got to see a fair number of chicks very early on, and I noticed that right after they hatch and even after they're dried, they sometimes can't really walk, or they kind of creep along without actually standing up. At first I thought mine were having leg problems, but I think they were just extremely young, because after a day or so, they could walk perfectly well. So I think it just takes them a day or two to get their "sea legs" if you know what I mean.

its okay. we have 5 mallard ducks up waiting to come out plus the female mallard is sitting on a bunch of eggs to go along with the 15 she had in March so one lost isnt bad.

am sorry to hear your chick died but i can't say with certianty but it looks like spraddle leg

I am so sorry to hear that you lost the little chick.
