Well, as you can probably tell by the pictures, my little pullets foot is really swollen, and shes limping on it. I checked it for bumblefoot, and there is no black spot on the bottom. She is having a real hard time walking on it, but everytime i seperate her from her sibling she starts to cry, and squawk constantly. Im wondering if she sprained something, or maybe broke something? i dunno, help me if you can!! I am also going to post a video of her trying to walk.. She can get in and out of a 3ft chicken coop somehow, but im wondering if i should seperate her, and limit her activity to ease the swelling. Maybe how surgery? Please let me know what i should do, and let me know any suggestions or things to keep an eye out for

Youtube video of her trying to walk on it:

What does the bottom of the foot look like? If had a dark colored scab it could be Bumblefoot.

Poor girl!

Sorry I apparently can't read today and skipped the part about the bottom already. I am sorry but I don't think I have a clue of what it may be.

Could you take a picture of the bottom of the foot?

I agree, it looks like bumblefoot... Is there a black scab on the bottom?

I really think it is bumble foot just no scab on the bottom (I would assume yet). I would do a search to find out how to treat it. Good luck with your girl!

Ok, so there is no bumble (or black spot)

Heres what it looks like. Do i operate now, or wait until the is a bumble?

I would try soaking in warm water with epsom salt and bandaging it up to make like a "shoe" around the infected area so that it is cushioned at first. I would do this for a few days to a week to see if the soaking will draw out the infection. If you PM Chookschick and ask her about it, she is the source that I am trying to remember how to treat bumble foot from. My memory is not what it used to be and I have never treated bumble foot but I know she starts with soaking first before trying to do any cutting.

It really looks like Bumblefoot but without the scab. there are a couple little places that look suspicious looking to me, unless it is the angle of the picture or the angle of how her foot is. On the 2nd picture, kinda up where her toe is just to the right of the toe (higher up on the leg) is that a cut or something) then on the 3rd picture to the left side of the foot and toe, there looks like a whiteish spot on her pad almost to the center of the foot pad. then look at her toe in the middle, is that dirt below her middle toe.

All it takes is just a scratch and the staph infection can get in there and wreck havoc.
