whats wrong with my hen? *video* unbalanced...NEW VIDEO~post#385

Pip&Squeek2 :

My little Runt doesn't seem to eat by itself either. So every hour I give it a try but it seems every 2-3 it'll eat really good. Other than that my little one just lays inside a popsicle stick house that my son has made. I think it gives it comfort because it surrounds it nicely. I just wish there was more I could do. And I really hope s/he is getting enough of the vit B in to make a difference.

i know how you feel.im not sure mine is getting enough either.

That is how I felt but I just kept crushing, coating and offering it to him. It took 5 days for Baby but it worked and he is just fine today. His problem is he is a finicky eater. I had not noticed but all he wanted was meal worms and would wait for me to give them as treats. He just wasnt eating much else. He still is pretty bad about eating. I am keeping an eye on him and am ready to jump in with intensive B therapy if I see any leg problems returning.
Every little bit helps. Keep offering it in food and water, then look forward to the positive results. Once they start feeling better perhaps they will also start eating better. It must be very frustrating for them not to have their little legs working correctly.

the vet thought queeny would be dead by yesterday morning,so im glad she proved him wrong.

Thank you Lobzi, you are supplying a lot of hope and a reason to keep trying. Something I truly appreciate greatly.
I noticed that Runt only really ate good when I would get the starter chick food wet. All the others, that live out with the momma, seem to be eating wonderfully. Thank God! This little one is sleeping in my arms as I write. Making the cute little pipping sounds.
One thing I think I am noticing is that the feet are gripping my finger more. I'm not sure if that is a good sign or if it's all in my head. I will continue to feed him/her every 3 hours through out the night as well as leave some mashed vit B, water, and chick starter for it...just in-case it gets the chance to grab some.

Thank you all again for the responses and support. Sometimes that is all we need!!!

Youre welcome and continued good luck. Gripping means the use is coming back and that is a GREAT sign. Let us know of any further developments.

thanks lobzi.heres an update on queeny.shes still very alert, but has pretty much stopped eating on her own.it may be that her balance is so off she cant lean over with out falling.so i put some egg yolk on a spoon and held it up to her and she ate a little.so i think i will try to feed her something about every hour and see what happens...

Thanks for the update. As I remember it Baby was a more difficult eater once he totally lost he ability to stand. He kept toppling into his food, it was very sad. I would hold him to feed him but he never ate like he did when he was able to feed himself. Just get that B down her, let her start to recover her balance, steady her so she can feed herself, and she should eat a whole lot better.

i thought maybe it was a balance issue,so i put her food and water on a plastic container to make it eye level for her.maybe she will eat a little if she doesnt have o lean over.
