What's wrong with their feathers?

Looking good! Great that yours are laying. I'm jealous!

My silkie boy and the F1 both started crowing. Grrrr. Now they have be relocated. Luckily I have a friend who will be as devoted to them as I am, even if she's a few hours away.

I need a roo!!!

How cool is THAT??? I couldn't have done that if I tried!!! I do believe, however, that I did end up with the single rooster I was hoping for ("he" is only 3 months old now, but has had a really red comb since he was about 5-6 weeks old), but no F1's at all - guess I'll have to make my own...

Would love to see pics when you have time to take some! I haven't seen anyone post pics of F1's yet - did I miss some somewhere?

There are some in post #1288. The blue birds in the 3rd photo I think.

Here's my F1 guy. This was several weeks ago. He's looking very roo-ish now. Trying to crow, and starting to mate!

I've been away from the forum for a pretty good while. Sorry! I have been having the worst luck with my breeding in the last few months. All of my older hens have stopped laying completely. It's been about 3-4 months since I've had any of their eggs. My younger hens born all last year have not started laying yet. And it seems everytime I have one or two close to laying then I suddenly find them dead. I lost the little blue silked hen that I hatched, the solid white one is still doing good, but not laying.

After all the F1 hatching last year, I only have 2 hens and 2 roos surviving. And two smaller ones that I'm not sure about yet. The hens are not laying yet. I finally have a few of the black ameraucanas laying again and so the hatching will begin again soon.

It seems like soooo many setbacks with this breed. I see others are having problems as well. I was hoping to have the F1 established by now and moving on to F2's, but not happening.
