Okay, I just read all 80-something pages of this thread...

I'm HOOKED!!!

I was gonna spend my next couple of paychecks saving up for tolbunt eggs, but now I've changed my mind. I have a new obsession!

Edited to add: Julie, where in W. TX are you located? I have friends in Amarillo and frequently visit. If you plan to sell chicks or older birds instead of eggs in the near future I'm all for planning a road trip in that direction. I'm more than willing to transport birds and/or eggs to anyone in between on that trip.

I was going to invest in a lavender ameraucana roo for my girls but I think I'll wait and see what I might get out of this line (in the next year sometime LOL) before I buy any lavenders.

Okay, I've missed stuff.

Hmmm, isn't the blue one a dark splash? My splash Silkies and AMs were all dark like that. Is that the only one that's hatched that dark so far?

Lubbock would be a god half way point. Hell, I LOVE Midland, just might drive all the way down there! My Amtgard group has all of their main events primarily in TX especially towards the end of the year. If things go as planned you'll see me before the end of the year ;-)

BTW, what is your asking price on chicks and eggs? I don't know a whole lot about shipping chicks but I'd be happy to help you research it and get some shipping boxes sent to you

Oh, also, I just want to say how VERY IMPRESSED I am with everyone who got involved with this project and REALLY stuck with it! You've all been working so hard to try and get these amazing little birds to flourish for almost 2 years and I am very moved by everyone's dedication. This thread was one of the most interesting reads I've had among any novel I own and you guys truly won me over!

I know SteveH.

That's why I'm not officially calling it "blue". It probably is a darker splash. It is the only one that has hatched that color. Pretty excited about it anyways!

Okay, I think I'm up to speed now. Can't promise for how long. Fair season gets pretty crazy around here.

The color difference in chicks from the same parents can be quite interesting. My Brahma/BR Xs are the predictable sex-links, but I've got a couple oddballs in our latest batch from the Brahma/RIRs and EEX that so far are very different from previous hatches. It's fun to watch and speculate.

Can't wait to see how the Ozzie/Silkie crosses feather out.

Right now my dark splash is feathering in and at first glance looks to be either light blue or lavender , but on closer observation I see several nearly black feathers here and there . The " white " one has one highly defined dark splash on one wing now and some tail feathers that just aren't as white as the others . The third splash is someplace inbetween the two .
