What's wrong with their feathers?

Take a cardboard box (I used a printer paper box), take the top off and stand the box on end. The end should now be the top. Cut a hole in the new top almost as big as the box but small enough to set a brooder light (with the metal cone) on without the light falling through. Cover the hole with wax paper. Replace brooder light with with a florescent light, virtually no heat. I lined my box with black fleece, gluing it in place with fabric glue. I have white fabric cut to fit which I lay over the black, pin it at top (pushing the pin into the cardboard). The fabric sticks to the black fleece enough that one or two pins on each side hold it in place. Use the macro focus on the camera and turn the flash off. I'm still playing with the flash. I either need a brighter light bulb or a shorter box, but I haven't bothered to mess with it since I made the first box.

Is there anyone within 6 hours of Memphis, TN (or willing to ship) that has splash silkied pullets/hens? I have a request from a lady that just wants 1 blue regular Ameraucana pullet & 1 splash Silkied Ameraucana pullet. She's willing to drive 6 hours if shipping can't be done. Please PM me if you can help.

I think I have a splash rooster that is showing red leakage from the top of his wings. I know this is genetic but why is it only the male and what do you think about it?

Yep, ChooksChicks is the Chocolate Queen.
Unfortunately, she's having to take a poultry sabbatical
I and a few friends are trying to preserve and go forward with as much of this lovely Lady's chicken magic as we can.
Truely wishing her speedy return!
Meanwhile, Missouri will have quite a pocket of her Choc/Mauve Silkied Ams & Marans, Konzas and a number of Orp projects to call home.
Lucky us!
Thank you Renee!

Meanwhile, hatching eggs that MAY produce that choc silkied roo are availble, chicks and starts whose offspring may produce it, are available. Choc silkied roos are the brass ring of this project - not yet being offered.  Sorry.

I'm going to also work on the chocolate silkied AM, I'm hatching out two sets from pips and peeps. I also have a red leakage in my splash. You can see it in my pictures on the page before.

I have one and the red leakage is all over it.Looks like a Wellie feathering in. The blue ones so far are fine, but what the heck is this??
