His body feathers are turning much softer now - although his tail and wing feathers are still as clumpy and sad as ever.

*Please forgive the crummy quality - I am without photoshop and BYC re-sized these.

Congrats AFD , looks like his harem is already established and hopefully you will be showing us some splits before the year is out . His comb appears correct and he's sporting a great muff and beard .

Oh Alice - he is so very, very handsome

Fantastic muff and beard - so fluffy.

Now you just need to get him to stop teasing/ratting his tail and wings

Wanna swap him for a broody? - just kidding - kind of - a little bit - sort of

I just read the entire thread.

76 pages! I think I'm IN LOVE! These guys are beautiful; the youngest ones as they grow are turning out to be beautiful like the originals. Alice, he's beautiful!

I have a few questions that I don't think have been detailed in the thread so far, but forgive me if I missed something. It's a long thread. XD I think also, there are several threads with information on this project, since there seems to be references to other information that isn't clear here.

What are their personalities like? I know Jubaby mentioned they seem to be a bit flighty or shy (and her hens stopped laying when moved). Does this seem pretty true across the board? Original roo was a bit aggressive to the first girl, is he generally aggressive or did he mellow? How is he towards people?

Have the feathers been further examined and compared to silkie feathers under microscope? I saw mention of a Uni that said they thought it was silkie, not fray. Is that the general consensus now?

Do the ropey-feathered (ropieds? hehe) birds have any retained feather sheath at all? It's mentioned that they seem to be smaller and possibly weaker than the silkieds, does this seem generally true?
