What's wrong with their feathers?

I would imagine that is an Easter Egger. Hatcheries commonly sell them as Ameraucana/Aracaunas but that is incorrect. She could lay a blue, green, or brown egg.

Thanks Chickendaddy! Im glad to hear that altho it really doesnt matter. Out of 30+ chickens, shes the sweetest one!

So I found a source for frizzled blue Ameraucanas. I wonder what it would look like if you were to mix these guys with them?

that would be a tough one, I think you just might end up with a mess....
eta- I think the first step is to just diverify these and get some vigor, JMO....

No thank you. I don't even want to consider that!

Yeah I know how you feel. I'm having a hard time picturing it, but what I do have in my head, is one funny looking little chicken. The kind you can't help but feel sorry for.

I just happened across this thread and I have to say so very cool that you guys are working on this. I got to the start of page 4, couldn't stand the pressure anymore, and jumped to this page. I cheated, but will continue getting the full story tomorrow.

If I wasn't facing a move and cutting back to the bare minimum, I'd be inkling for some of these eggs myself. Perhaps when I get to MN and get settled, I may want to get in on some of these if I have the room. In the meantime, I'll be subscribing. And BTW, this is how a new breed starts. Someone creates or has something pop up, it gains popularity and the next thing you know, several years and a group of dedicated breeders later, there's a new breed or variety.

I think it's a great thing. Glad you took the gift and ran with it.
