Fascinating.

What has become of the pretty wheaten colored birds that showed up separately? I would love to see an update on those guys as well. Perhaps Julie's baby that had the weird red patches could be used with the wheaten birds. Would that give the possibility of blue wheaten, since that chick was showing both blue and red?

I hear peeping coming from the incubator today. I received two batches of eggs from Julie as her birds were not laying well in the heat. The first batch is due on the 3rd and the 2nd on the 6th. I have both the silkied and F-1s due to hatch.

I have TWO F1s hatched two days early, very healthy and more on the way. It looks like a good hatch.

Thanks. Well this has been a humbling experience. Here I was getting all cocky thinking for certain the Silkieds would hatch. They were strong and working their way out of the eggs last night but a little too much blood to help. When I got up, they were dead in their shells. I do not get it at all. PERFECTLY formed, normal navals and their breathing was unobstructed. It seems like there is only a small window of opportunity to help them out of the egg. Fortunately, I have several more from the second group and I have learned from my mistake.
