The little farm, northern Ohio
Hey all! I have a small flock of 6 pullets. They are 16 weeks old. When I was feeding them today, I noticed one had missing feathers on her chest/neck area and another one had what looked like a bloody neck. When I looked closer, I didn't see any evidence of mites or lice I don't think. I did notice the one had some bloody feather shafts. Pictures attached. The one with the missing feathers is the pearl star leghorn. The one with the bloody neck is the light brahma. Blood isin't too bad, just looks painful and dry. I didn't notice any bullying but it does look like they were picked at. Is this just a juvenile molt or something else? They eat Purina chick starter crumbles. Thanks for any help! P.s. please don't mind my dry hands. Tis the season!

I don't think it is boredom but I will try out your suggestions, thanks! I do provide them with things to do, they love it when I rake leaves into their run. I did skim that article real quick and love the water bottle idea, will have to try it. Thanks!
