I found this egg on the ground far from the nest box. I picked it up thinking it was just some kinda dirt on the outside of the egg. I brushed it off when I turned it over I noticed it was cracked a little. But when I opened it up I noticed the 'dirt' looking stuff was on the outside as well. Does anyone know what this stuff is? Have you ever seen anything like it?

There's an example of why they say to crack your eggs in a separate bowl before adding them to your mixing bowl!!!!!!

    I've never seen that before.

Ive never seen anything like it before either. This is the one and only egg Ive found like this. I know it wasnt an old egg though. I go collect the eggs twice a day. And where this egg was, there is no way I would have been able to missed it. It really looked like dirt though. Once you got up close with it and it didnt smell either. So I have no idea. Not when I picked it up. But that doesnt mean they werent. The only thing is I didnt see any opening where a bug could have gotten in the egg. Thankfully Ive never found an egg like it since.
