What's you plan for 2024 chicks!

Pics
I planned to not get any more animals this year.
Then I adopted two pullets.
After that I bought four chicks.
Now Jenny hatched out two chicks.

Bonus: my turkey and both ducks are sitting on fifteen duck eggs.

So much for no more birds! :p

We had our first (and second and third…) go at incubating our own eggs! The first round (incubator) are about 4 weeks old, the second round (incubator) just over a week old, and the third (under our first ever broody) due to hatch Tuesday or Wednesday.
It’s been a lot of fun!
I also bought some lavender Orpington and speckled Sussex chicks just because I’ve always wanted them.
Now I’m just not so patiently waiting to see the hen/roo ratio, soooo I can buy more chicks to replace all the excess roos 😂

My new babies arrived today! Just like the last batch I got from MPC, healthy and happy. I was one chick short and they explained it does happen where one jumps out without anyone noticing, but the customer service agent at MPC was so helpful and identified the missing baby for me. Thankfully it was one of 2 australorps I had in my order and not one of the single breeds. So I still have all the breeds I wanted!
