TEXAS is in for the hardest FREEZE in 19 or 20 years. Thursday night to Sunday morning...... It is very encouraging to know that chickens survive in the great Northern states.

All I have is ONE heat light bulb and 20 chickens......and because of ya'll I know that they will be fine.... we are getting down to 15 or 19 degrees.... in Conroe Texas..... and we have a newborn baby in the house and a German Shepherd who will probably need to come in.. He also has a heat light in his dog house so I am hoping he will go in there.... He is NOT house broken and reminds me each time I try to bring him in.

Same thing goes for FL, that is why everyone here is jokingly talking about packing their bags and moving South, not because its cold, but because of the duration and intensity, it doesnt typically stay this cold for this long. That's what I was trying to say in the last thread, I am a Floridian and this has been an unusually long cold spell.

The girls wil get spoiled tho cos they won't be out as much...they run out in the run between rainbursts lol So I guess I get the rainy day treats ready in case there is more than just showers, and some cabbages etc...

I know at the end of this 10 day forecast my Camilla <White Plymouth rock> will be filthy dirty once again. She is my dirtybird tomboy pullet.

Very good point, be sure those dogs are inside. Sure they dont have a heavy winter coat like the northern dogs, which had time to built up their winter coats, sure its the same with most animals with fur...
