I will second that..............my first pair of GW Teal were the favorite of my wife and I. They were very friendly, calm and trusting of us.

The Green-winged Teal is a wild breed and the smallest of the US Migratory Waterfowl. (smaller than Call ducks) They can fly like rockets. I always found them to be far less skittish than the Wood ducks.

Nice green wings Giffy,
Yep they are a migratory species, nothing at all like these barnyard birds , ruffly the size of your hand and push 60mph when flying!
I loved them too, had 19 species of teals when I was in full swing with my migratory ducks,(and like you said, all were very docile for wild species) But, had to move, and you now the rest of the story. Had 100 species of migratory waterfowl!
Now we're settled back on my farm and I have full intentions of getting back all of them.
The migratorys to me, just kick the domestics rear when in comes to beauty. I wish I had pics of them, but if you think green wings are nice. Try out some of these.
Baikal Teal, falcated teal, Silver teal, hottentot teal (the worlds smallest duck, 4-5 inch long) Also the smew, buffleheads, goldeneye, mergansers, treeducks, etc There are some many, Just love them all. Wish more BYC people would get involved with them.
Think I may start a thread about that!!
Try a image search for some of those though If you want to see some TRUE beauties

Again love those pics Giffy

I can't wait till this fall...i only have mandarins, wood ducks, and ringed teal right now...but by the end of 2010, I hope to expand my breeds, especially in the teal section....so exciting!

I have had khakis, a runner, a buff, a rouen and now Welsh Harlequins. They all have their good points, but I am really loving the Harlequins.
